Autumn's Arrival

My wardrobe is a TIP. It literally looks like a bomb has hit it. Why? Because early mornings when I can hear rain thrashing my window, I'm raking for warm clothes.
Dark warm colour palettes are what I'm scouring for. I'm not a wearer of bright colours.
Anyway... as I am poor at the moment, I am trying to make the most of what I have. However, I do have one or two items on my wish list which I thought was about time to share...

Summer of beer, tents and wellie boots.

School's out babbbyyy.

(And if you're not doing anything on Monday 16th July at 6.30pm, come along to Invicta Grammar School where a few of us girls are hosting a Fashion Show for the Royal Marsden charity. There will be Pims, Wine, Non- Alcoholic fruit cocktails and cupcakes.  Only £3.00)
Anyway. Anyone festival-ing this year? I went to Wireless on the Sunday with my best friend. We were so lucky and got guest listed meaning access to VIP lounges. It was tres cool. We got ppplllastered in mud. It was grim, but we both wore the perfect outfits for the weather. I wore a little black dress, with a stripey blazer which my mum thinks looks like one of those blazers which the boat rower people in Venice wear, and also hunter wellies and thigh high socks. Polly wore tights with shorts, a cool tee and a pink blazer with wellies.
Anyway, I'm also going to a festival called Beautiful Days, which is in the heart of Devon. I'm going down with 5 other friends for 5 days. But I'm going to treat myself to a festival collection of clothes.

Anyone hit the sales hard? I've been so busy I haven't been anywhere except River Island for a couple of minutes. But I hear quite a lot of places aren't having great sales. This makes me feel a little better. Anyway, it's about a month until Beautiful Days, so I have plenty of planning time. It's just so tricky because it would be really hot, or it could be rainy and cold.... and you have to pack everything in a back pack.

It's all in the method.

Oh so.... 'Indie' ?

I found myself wandering over my Cheerios and Vogue at my breakfast bar this morning... there are fashion eras... the military 40s, the big skirt 50s, the hippie 60s, the whacky 80s, the denim 90s... BUT.... where are we now? We've had it all... block colours, metallic, soldier, sailor, biker..... but when your kids look back and say... what was the fashion of the 2010s, I have a theory we're the indie era......Seriously...... what is 'indie' exactly? Denim Shirts? Straw Hats? RayBans? Messy Hair? Brogues? Maxi EVERYTHING? Those woollen jumpers with all the zigzags?
No one likes to describe themselves as indie... unless they want a slap in the face. . . Right? But there's something so cool, laid back, and attractive about this fashion type. And you only need a tiny twist on an incredibly simple outfit to make it look 'cool'. Because really that's what being indie, with all of the ukuleles and frayed denim, is all about is it not? Being 'cool' (I hesitate to use this word but it seems so appropriate).

Say for example you were wearing a black blazer, with a plain white T-shirt and denim hot pants. Nothing amazing right? Pop some Wayfarers and a high hair bun and BOOM. In...........die.

The top button done up on a shirt SCREAMS I want to be indie. But if you pop that done up button shirt underneath a jersey jumper with a pair of skinnies. You're set.

Urban Outfitters ... the King of this style type.
